DEA Raids Medical Marijuana Lab in Denver

Full Spectrum Laboratories in Denver tests medical marijuana for dispensaries and patients in Colorado and on Thursday it was raided by the D.E.A. and ordered to turn over patient records, violating several H.I.P.A. laws in the process by disclosing the identities of the patients to the officers while the owners were in the state capital, giving there testimony to the Health and Human Services Committee. Recieving word though text message that the DEA were in the process of a raid.

DEA special agent Mike Turner said the administration never comments on ongoing investigations and that he couldn't confirm or deny whether there was a raid. In general, he said "agents don't investigate medical marijuana users or suppliers but that they could be probed if their name surfaced during investigations into large drug trafficking operations."

"We don't target these operations unless they come up in the normal course of our operations," he said of medical marijuana operations.

As of late the Police and DEA statewide have raided a few large grow operations but haven't gone after the regular patient and or caregiver. What is the DEA doing??? Why are they not listening. Have the DEA gone made like the S.S. of old???

Kush at Casselmans Kick off party

Sundays for me are usually extremely lazy, I don't move from the couch and I smoke heavily! But I am one of the lucky ones, I am able to medicate inside of my own house. For many others who cant medicate inside of there on home for one reason or another, finding a friendly safe place where they are able to go, medicate and socialize will become something of great importance and they will be looking for a place to go. That place my friends is Casselmans bar and venue in Denver.

Today was a great day. Lucky for me, I have been having more and more of those lately and as of late I really see no end in sight. Today was filled with great vibes, good medicine and this, beautiful classic 1975 Volkswagen bus!

STUPID STONER STORY

A great thing happened last year. 2009 saw the explosion of medical marijuana dispensary all across the state including Denver. Several cities put moratoriums in place, outlawing all form of dispensaries with in the city limits. The reason for the moratoriums in the cities are not only driven by pure and un-adulterated ignorance but out of simple fear. Fear because like everything else in life the he public vision of a dispensary is incorrect. They have a vision that a dispensary 1880's opium type den filled to the top with marijuana, hippies sitting around "getting high" while owners, "The Mexican drug cartels" count all the 10's of thousands of dollars they've made that day.

ith the economic downfall, people are broke and hungrier than ever. Around the same time several of the new dispensaries were blooming, Denver was also seeing another trend, not like anything seen before. In the month of December, Denver saw 20 bank robberies, a number not seen since the early Wild Wild West days when gunslingers walked these same streets proud, but people aren't running around demanding that we close all the banks???

What needs to happen, is the public will open there eyes, educate themselves of cannabis, the state and the city laws and soon the public will realize that robbing a dispensary is pointless. There is little medicine on site at all times and the cash isn't in the building to long and most have alarms now and the police are close by at all time. Much like a 7-11. People stopped robbing those after they realized it wasn't worth robbing and the chance of getting caught were high. Until then we will keeping getting stories like this that come though the wire.

Pride and Medicine

Pride and Medicine located at 731 W 6th Ave. Just east of Sante Fe on 6th Ave in the art district.

Pride and Medicine is a sleek, cozy and clean dispensary where Denver residents can obtain there medicine in a safe and sound manner. There is no medicating on site and the staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Immediately upon entering you the warm of the friendly smiles fills the room and the amazing African pictures on the walls just add to the gallery feel.

I was there a little early and the finishing touches were still being put on but the photos that will one day cover the walls, were all taken by one of the current owners, on one of his recent trips to the oldest part of the world, Ethiopia.
This technically will be the owners first professional showing of any of his work and I for one am really excited for him!

Pride and Medicine had several strains on opening day which was rather nice to see(Ayoda, very tasty Pine Apple TrainWreck Pine Apple Kush, AK47, Super Dank Hash Plant x AK, some classic Maui and some interesting Tooth Fairy which i haven't had a chance to see or try yet and some Durbin Poison) and a wide selection of incredibly tasting edibles made fresh that morning and if you know me I am a humongous fan of the canna-cookie. Pride and Medicine is offering a free cookie to any and every patient ho comes though the door, while supplies last.

There location is easy to find and in a prime spot, sitting on 6th avenue and the neighborhood, the neighborhood is thriving.

Do something You Love and You'll Never Have to Work a Day in Your Life

Today was the day. The straw that broke the camels back. It was going great early on. I found a crisp $20 bill in my jacket pocket, the buses ran surprisingly on time and the weather hasn't been this beautiful in months.

When i started my job almost 4 years ago, I loved it, but as time grew, like everything else my love for the job faded. Now lately, I have been pondering a rare opportunity that was presented to me to help open a medical marijuana dispensary. Its a dream come true. Do something you love and you'll never have to work in your life. My father told me that once and for the most part of my life, I never thought that I'd find something even close to that. I always thought that I would be a slave to "The Man" for the rest of my life. That has recently changed.

Pride and Medicine will be a new dispensary opening in Denver and I am the newest employee. I have put my two week notice at my day job ehich i have held for 4 years now. It has been to this point the bet job i have worked at, but its time for my boat to set sail...

If your driving south on Broadway, turn right on Colorado ave and park right away along the side of the street. Ganja Gourmet is on the back side of the Hookah bar on Broadway.

If you enjoy eatables this is definitely a place your going to want to visit. We have been looking for a spot where we could have our bi-monthly NORML board meetings, somewhere nearby and somewhere cannabis friendly. We really havent found any solid spot, I think that is until now.

Mile High Wellness

6740 E. Hampden Ave.
OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK
MONDAY-SATURDAY: 10AM-8PM
SUNDAY: 10AM-5PM
720-382-8516

Mile High Wellness will always hold a special place in my heart. It was the first dispensary I visited after getting my medical marijuana recommendation. The meet some of the fine people who run the place while I was at the NORML conference in S.F.

Aurora, my birth city, is located just east of Denver, has a ban on dispensaries. They are also known for there police whom constantly harass patients still to this day. if a patient doesn't want to resort to obtaining there medicine on the street from a shady character the only option from that person to do would be to go west for 10 minuets. Denver bound. Mile High Wellness is a discreet, safe and easy to find with friendly knowledgeable staff to assist you in any way.

Hemp company "Naturally Advanced" makes initial sale

Portland Business Journal
Jan 5 2010

Naturally Advanced Technologies Inc. on Tuesday said apparel maker Hanesbrands Inc. has purchased its first batch of Crailar fiber in a significant step toward commercializing the technology.

Portland-based Naturally Advanced (OTCBB: NADVF) developed Crailar technology, which is designed to turn burlap-like hemp into a fabric as soft as cotton.

In August the company announced a joint development agreement with Winson-Salem, N.C.-based Hanesbrands to study how Crailar fiber can be worked into mainstream production.

Hanes ordered about 10,000 pounds of Crailar in the first quarter of 2010. Naturally Advanced didn’t release the price of the sale.

In a news release, Naturally Advanced CEO Ken Barker, the former head of apparel at Adidas America, said the first order will supply a full-scale trial later this month with the company’s proposed manufacturing equipment supplier in Germany.

After that, the company will conduct another trial on commercial-scale spinning equipment at a Hanes facility.

Once those trials are complete, the next stage would be to conduct consumer testing.

“With positive results from these tests, we will begin finalizing commercialization plans to bring Crailar products to market,” Barker said.

Building materials going to pot

Hemp News

CANNABIS could soon be going up in buildings rather than going up in smoke.

The hemp plant is one of six identified by Department of Primary Industries (DPI) scientists in Queensland as a source of natural resin to reduce the building industry's reliance on resins produced from fossil fuels.

DPI project officer Dr Andries Potgieter said generating resins from renewable sources such as plant oils could reduce greenhouse gas emissions and result in a smaller carbon footprint.

Currently most resins and adhesives used in aerospace structures and in structural building materials are ultimately derived from crude oil.

Cannabis sativa, also known as marihuana or hemp, was very widely used in the past.

James Cook's Endeavour and ships of its era had all their sails and ropes made of hemp.

Industrial varieties, which have a negligible content of the active ingredient tetra hydra cannabinol (THC), are grown under licence in Queensland.

"The first step in the project was identifying which of the plant oil species are best suited to the Australian environment,'' Dr Potgieter said.

"Initially, we tested 13 plants for their suitability to Australian agronomic conditions and unsaturated oil content.

"We were able to narrow the selection down to eight species straight away due to the classification of some as weeds and their limited exposure to the Australian broad-acre cropping environment.

"We now have a final list of six plant species that show high potential for the extraction of oil for resin, and are currently not part of an existing oil production and refinery system.''

Research will continue into the suitability of hemp; Calendula officinalis (pot marigold), Camelina sativa (false flax); Pongamia pinnata (pongam tree); Lesquerella fendleri (desert mustard); and Crambe abyssinica (abyssinan mustard).

The joint project between DPI, the University of Southern Queensland and Loc Composites could to lead to the production of fibre composites which can be used in sustainable high technology building products used in, for example, the production of railway sleepers and small bridges, Dr Potgieter said.

The main challenge is to make it financially viable for farmers to grow crops for this purpose.
